Nature provides thousands of phospholipids; they come in all shapes and chemical modifications. However, many possible modifications are not (or not anymore) found in nature. We are synthesizing artificial lipids, study their biophysics and probe their potential applications in biology and medicine. In particular, we are interested in the following points:

  1. We synthesize and purify lipids, mainly phospholipids
  2. We analyze the biophysics of lipid monolayers at the air/water interface
  3. We formulate lipids into vesicles and analyze their biophysical properties. We are interested in vesicles for drug delivery and surpamolecular constructs
  4. We are developing new methods for vesicle formulation and characterization
  5. We perform custom lipid synthesis for selected biochemistry collaborators
